Attelles is a collection of wearable objects that emerged from an ongoing investigation into the relationship between the body and the objects it wears. The project proposes a reconsideration of jewellery, shifting beyond ornament towards designs that actively engage with the body and become part of its form.

Borrowing its title from the French word “attelles”, meaning splints, the collection is informed by an archive of objects worn on the body while existing outside the conventional category of jewellery. Orthopaedic devices, armour and thimbles are examined not as visual references, but for the design principles they share. Their shapes emerge from the need to protect, support or extend the body, revealing a distinct formal vocabulary that becomes the conceptual foundation of the collection.

This research materialises as wearable pieces positioned at the body’s extremities. Through a precise geometric language, they transform the body’s morphology into sculptural extensions that frame the human figure.
